Process Notes:

All of the works featuring bark are made from large pieces that have fallen along the Perimeter Trail in Smithers, British Columbia.  The bark is then washed, scrubbed free of cambium, sterilized and left to dry for several days.  The large pieces are smashed into shards and organized according to size and texture.  These pieces are then used to form compositions which are glued onto polyurethane paper.  The bark pieces are protected with acrylic gel medium before receiving oil paint glazes.  Compositions may be rearranged with oil paint over several months.  From Perimeter trail to finished product the process happens over about 6 to 8 months.
